Late postfor the parkour jam :)
I actually had a school event on Monday starting at 7.50am but I left early, around 10.45am to go for the Parkour jam. Was supposed to meet at Buangkok MRT station at 12pm.
I forgot which line the Buangkok station was on, so I decided to bus to Eunos MRT and train all the way there. Turns out it was really on the purple line as I suspected and I could've just took a bus to Serangoon station and train a couple stops over to Buangkok. Arrived there 10 minutes early anyway, after travelling on the MRT for nearly an hour.
Met with Ee Feng first then two other girls there. I was lucky to join at that time as the other girls were also newcomers. Waited for the rest to come and after they came down, Benjamin led us to our first spot.
At the rooftop garden, which was our first spot, did the regulatory warm ups, then I started learning vaults with Ee Feng's help. She's actually a really good teacher for a newcomer, kudos to her. After several tries and scraps sustained, I managed to do a clean speed vault. Practiced that vault a few more times before going over to the other side.
There was a time challenge for the more experienced ones later on, and we moved to a sheltered area when it started raining.
I could elaborate on the entire jam, but I'm simply gonna cut it short. (Not like people wanna read some grandmother's tale on my blog.)
Went for lunch back near the Buangkok station, then trained to Punggol station and took the LRT to somewhere in Punggol. Found spot, trained, move spot.To summarize, I learnt how to do the double-hand speed vault (not single handed yet) and a double-hand vault in that jam, as well as precision jumping. Also practiced with the wall - Run, jump, kick, grab.
Areas to improve in: 1) Arm strength. I was able to grab onto the wall, but didn't have enough strength to pull myself up onto it.
2) Stablizing in precision jumps - Very crucial. All in all, the jam was really fun, really awesome. Got to know many nice people during the jam. Hope to go for another one and gym training soon.New laptop!Yea, I was really shocked when this happened but my parents actually got me a new laptop for my early Christmas present. They also got my sister one set too. Shocking and unexpected. I was actually in a "stone mode" when I realised what my (our) present was. Using it now, nice laptop, but I will still miss my other laptop which is now my mum's property :(Right, that's all for today folks.
Ciao!!
